Halloween Candy & Wine Pairings!!

Ready for a night on the couch with some candy and wine?? Let's do it!! Check out this list of pairings for your favorite candies this Spooky Season!

When considering your own pairings, try sticking to these basics - complementary flavors (coconut and lime, for example) or compatible flavors (earth and mushrooms). Although we typically want a wine to be at least as sweet as the food you're pairing with, when it comes to candies, you may need some drier wines to balance the sweetness. But remember that the most important is always what you enjoy, so just have fun with it!

Reese's & Gamay

A light and fruity Gamay will make a great match for a rich Reese's cup and that touch of saltiness in the peanut butter will enhance those fruity flavors! *chef's kiss* I suggest this Louis Jadot Beaujolais you can grab at Target!

Kit Kat & Pinot Noir

Because they aren't overwhelmingly rich, it's so easy to binge some Kit Kats! (just me?) Their milky chocolate flavor is suitable for notoriously delicate Pinot Noir and together you'll taste a combination such as chocolate-covered cherries!! I've always been a fan of the Francis Coppola Director's Cut Pinot Noir!

Skittles & Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc will make for a dry contrast to the sweet and fruity Skittles and you're likely to pair some citrusy flavors! Since we're already at Target, let's grab this Charles Krug Sauvignon Blanc to wash our skittles down!

Butterfinger & Chardonnay

This one just seems logical to me! To be fair, not all Chardonnays will have that buttery flavor, and many don't care for that. But I thought this Raeburn Chardonnay out of California's Russian River Valley would likely pair its buttery flavors with a Butterfinger!

Candy Corn & Chardonnay

Another Chard pairing because I just couldn't leave candy corn out! You either love them or hate them, am I right? Kinda like Chardonnay! Candy corns are basically straight sugar but have a touch of waxy and butteriness that will work well with the bottle of Chard you already grabbed (above)!

Caramel Apple & Riesling You could do an actual caramel apple but I'm thinking of those caramel apple suckers we were all obsessed with in sixth grade!! Go with an off-dry or medium-sweet Riesling like this Chateau Ste Michelle which will have the perfect green apple flavor and touch of sweetness to make my mouth water for more of that sucker!!

Starburst & Rosé

All of these fresh fruit flavors are a match made in heaven!! Strawberry, watermelon, and citrus will all come through in this Decoy Rosé so whatever your favorite Starburst flavor is, you're good to go!!
