Football and Wine Pairing

Football is well known for its party snacks but why aren't we pairing these snacks with our favorite wines?? It doesn't always have to be football and beer, my people!! Game on! Here are a few of my favorite football snack and wine pairings!

BBQ Chicken Wings & House Wine Rosé Bubbles

This bubbly rosé has just a touch of sweetness and is the perfect match for a barbecue wing. I already am obsessed with BBQ and rosé but add chicken wings and bubbles and there's just no going wrong! Grab the House Wine Rosé Bubbles at Target for $4.99 and remember this 375mL can is equal to half a bottle!

Hot Wings & Underwood Wine The Bubbles

Chicken wings and bubbly are such an undervalued combo but I'm here to change that!! The bubbles will cut right through the crisp wings and help tame the hot sauce. I grabbed Underwood Wine's The Bubbles at my local grocer but in many states, Union Wine Co will ship straight to you!

Buffalo Chicken Dip & Dr L Riesling

I can (and will) go to town on some creamy and spicy Buffalo Chicken Dip! The richness requires some acid to balance, but some sweetness to the wine will also help tame the spice. Grab this Dr L Riesling at wine.com for just $11.99! I also would not count out a bubbly Riesling option!! Now we're talking! My favorite is Lady of the Lakes Bubbly Riesling and its only $14.99!

Sliders & Marques de Caceres Rioja

For a classic Cheeseburger slider, you can't go wrong with Rioja. This Spanish region is known for its Tempranillo grapes which will give you cherry, leather, and tobacco and with its high tannin and acidity, it makes a great match for a cheeseburger! The tannin is what the beef calls for and the acidity works to cleanse the palate of that sticky, creamy cheese. Try this Marques de Caceres Rioja Reserva for under $20!

Chili & McPrice Myers Right Hand Man Syrah

Classic Chili con Carne brings the flavor and (if I make it) the spice! A full-bodied Syrah will shine next to the spices of your Chili, without being overly drying. McPrice Myers Right Hand Man Syrah from California's Central Coast is a great and affordable option at $22.99, but you'll want to be careful of your spice next to this high alcohol wine.

As always, have fun with it! Pair what sounds good to you and share with a friend to see what they think, too! And don't worry, if you aren't here for the game, these will still hold up as some pretty good pairings!
